Bassett Rescue Squad is a non-profit orginization whose sole purpose is to help those in need. The Bassett Rescue Squad was founded by five people in 1958 over the drowning death of a ten-year old boy. By 1963, the Bassett Rescue Squad had answered over 150 emergency calls; by 1973, they were receiving over 2,000 calls a year. Today, The Bassett Rescue Squad consists of 74 members, houses 12 rescue vehicles, and saves lives on a daily basis.


The Bassett Rescue Squad is a member of The Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads(VAVRS). Rescue Squad members receive extensive training in both Basic Life Support(BLS) and Advanced Life Support(ALS); if your under their care, you're in good hands. Patients of the Bassett Rescue Squad are taken to the Martinsville Memorial Hospital where they are treated for anything the Rescue Squad is not equiped to handle.

The Bassett Rescue Squad is dedicated to saving lives. Their skillful service is a blessing to the community and helps to ensure a future for those in medical need.
